Review: King Kong Theory
See my brief review of Virginie Despentes' King Kong Theory over at BitchBuzz. Be sure to check out all the other fun pieces at the mag, too. I'd like to write a longer and more thoughtful review of the book, which it deserves. Despentes comes to the topic of women today from very disparate experiences: as a rape survivor, former prostitute and punk rocker as well as writer/director of the controversial film, Baise-Moi.

Some of the least fun parts of that c.v. explains some things about her work and pronouncements I've heard from her, but I haven't read her at any length.
It's a fascinating book and I haven't quite decided what I think about it, but I find a lot of it provocative. One of the things I like best about it is that she refuses to deal with absolutes (mostly). Of course I am also in sympathy with her anti-capitalist stance.
Nice review- I definitely want to check this book out!
