Thank You

At the end of Women's History Month, I raise my glass to all the men who have been here, too. Where would we be without you? After all, we're all needed here, eh? Women's History Month isn't about negating men: it's about celebrating women. While the gentlemen who congregate here likely have no difficulty doing just that, they should realise that they are rather exceptional in that regard. Too many men are frightened by strong women. So here's a thank you card for being such lovely gents. We appreciate you!

Signed,
The Lovely Ladies

Still looking forward to the first thouroughly good president...she might well be an XXer.

I have to wonder about those afraid of strong women, or funny women, or even of calling women "women." But, there's so much to wonder about.

Thanks for the invite!

The 21st Century is the century of women. More and more women will be running our corporations and government bureaucracies. Women students outnumber male students in most colleges and universities. Women will make an enormous impact on our economy and our culture. And, yes, there will be a woman President this century.

Well, George, it's been a long time coming. We have had queens wielding power in centuries past -- goddesses, too -- but in the modern era of institutions and punishment culture, women are still scapegoated and I think things are worse than before. I recall vividly how people argued back in the 70s that there would be a "minority" president before there would be a female one because as deeply racist as our culture is it is more misogynist -- and much of that comes from puritanical notions about sex (woman as Eve).

...which makes me all the more grateful that I know so many men of the superior sort who find it puzzling that anyone thinks of women as anything other than people. So, once again, thank you.

(Should I be surprise/impressed/confused that this post has brought an impressive number of hits to the blog?)

Tight riding breeches on the header always work. Beefcake in the not-quite-raw.

--Yours for the Sonia Johnson for President in '84 campaign (Citizens Party/Consumer Party in Pennsylvania...the proto-Green party which ran Barry Commoner and LaDonna Harris in 1980. Really, Johnson's talking points and her platform in 1984 were the best I've seen in my lifetime...and, as we were both Virginians at the time, she couldn't even vote for herself--like me, her presidential ballot options in 1984 were Mondale, Reagan and LaRouche...)

And don't forget the riding crop! Must be all those Regency readers, combing the net for sexy men in breeches.
