Advertisements for Myself

I'm beginning to doubt their usefulness and they seem to cause nothing but headaches in the making, yet here I go again: a general book trailer using my new "branding" concept, as developed in conversation on this blog: hard to spell, easy to read!

The music is courtesy of my friend Gerry Luoma Henkel, who built my first kantele, Louhi. Gerry makes amazing instruments and beautiful music; not surprisingly, he tells me some of his music is going to be be featured in a play as well as in a movie being made in Australia. I'm lucky to have so many talented people around me. When I ordered my kantele from Gerry, he even included a videotape that he had made to show me the basics and how to tune it. It was a big help! Kanteles are easy to play and have a gorgeous and soothing sound. Everyone should have one!

Today I will be heading off to MassMOCA for the Bang on Can marathon. After having my head down over work all week, it will be a nice change to empty my head of words and just listen to the music. And not thinking about things I wish I had done...

But no mention of miniature golf prowess!

I do envy the new-"classical" fest tix. That sounds like a pretty impressive day out, even if the drive might add to the gruel.

Typed from Alice's digs, with Anna Nicole aka Nikki Chang brushing tail over keyboard.

Yes, foolish apes need to keep priorities straight. Where's our kibble? For that matter, does Kate credit my significant contributions to her work, including my suggestion that she call this revised novel of hers THE GIRL WITH THE FOXY CROWN?

No. Not at all. And I need my scratchings. At least when Carole Nelson Douglas writes a Lovecraftian tale, it's about her cat character and it's called "Something Fishy." No, THERE'S a title, easy to spell, easy to read. And Rita Mae Brown does it right.

I will be happy to make further suggestions for reading or titling upon request. You know where to find me...I'll make sure of that.

SALT: Decent Jane Bonding, even if Jolie is too scrawny. I believed she cares about her spouse a lot more than I believed Bond was broken up over Eva Green's character.

@Todd -- so is that a spoiler for SALT? I'm sorry, should I say "FILMED IN ALBANY!" AKA SALT.

No word about mini-golf, because I have reached my peak and now there is only the long, downhill slide into obscurity and scandal to come.

@Kipper -- how could I be so cruel? I am addressing my foolish oversight be composing a twelve hour mini-series as encomium for your influence. It will be like a mash-up of Behind the Music and Falcon Crest. Johnny Depp has already phoned about playing you. What do you think?

Todd Mason said...

Nope, not a spoiler, unless a bit of business introduced in the first five minutes of a film is a spoiler. Just a comparison.

Clearly some location shooting in DC...have to wonder what was in Albany (the slightly snow forests and such, I'm guessing, and maybe some of the vehicular mayhem).

That overrated freak? I think I should play myself. If I get final say on craft services. Nick Bakay can dub my voice...his work in SABRINA was fine.

Maybe a twelve-minute economium will suffice. I'm not vainglorious.

@Todd -- ah! And yes, I believe the Albany filming focused largely on the overpasses where 90 and 787 come together.

@Kipper -- I had to look up Nick Bakay. Hmmm, not sure I'd have confidence in that. Perhaps you will be able to play yourself in the film. You just need a publicist and an agent. I'll lend you the phone if you want to make some calls.

Twelve minutes -- you are so modest. Could even the Texas years be covered in so short a time?

While all this was before I was born and bothered to learn the ape chatter you call "English," I understand Bakay did a fine lampoon of a clown called "David Caruso" on a show called SHE TV, and I like what I've seen in the SABRINA repeats, even if the puppet work was unconvincing.

I've already got an in with Morris the Cat's and Sneaky Pie Brown's agency. I used to cough up hairballs with the Pie Girl. (I've done a bit of rambling when you've been gone, beyond the metro area.)

I am quite impressed. Yet you look so quiet and unassuming over there asleep on the floor next to my kantele case. Have you got a hidden iPhone stashed away? So many mysteries!

A gentletom has to maintain a certain air of enigma, particularly after castration.

Quite charming. I am going to go look at one someone did for my daughter's 2007 book and see how many hits it's gotten over the years.

A thousand hits and probably a dozen were mine. I wonder if that translates into many sales?

LOL, there's the rub. Who can say? Thanks for watching it in any case!
