Misheard Today

"Ninety year old lobster pleads guilty to racketeering..."

Uh... not quite. Real story here. Too much grading, I think.

Heh. When I saw that headline, I first thought "globster".

A lobster that old would be a little tough...which is why it got in trouble in the first place!

I get the same effect visually when I'm scanning too fast in a used books store....the enticing-sounding 'Caribbean Beef Fetishes' turned out to be the rather mundane 'Caribbean Reef Fishes'....

Mmmm -- Caribbean Beef Fetishes!

I swear the NPR guy really did say "lobster" and I actually heard it right (though clearly it was the wrong word). Trying to find the words to Cheryl's birthday song today, I ran across a page with misheard lyrics, in this case Cibo Matto's "Birthday Cake," which made me laugh a lot.

"'Scuse me while I kiss this guy..."

or

"Every picture tells a story, doughnut..."

You mean it wasn't "doughnut?"
