Whoo hoo!
Snow day!
If you don't have the day off and need an antidote to V-Day syrup, check out this great item at Women's E-News. I should send it to my students who are reading about courtly love...
Here's the snowy gnome outside Gene's window (bad snap from PDA).
Skidmore decided, finally, to suspend "normal office and teaching operations" after 1 p.m. today.
Not that it affected me (I cancelled my morning meeting and my afternoon class, which treks out to a school district already closed for the day), but I feel sorry for everyone who busted their asses getting in, only to be told to go home.
For an allegedly smart school, I can sometimes only marvel at its dumbassery.
Well, Robert says Bard is open too, apparently due to it being a "residential school" -- but so are we and the Rose is closed!
I remember when there was the big brouhaha at UConn because the then gov (may he rot in prison) didn't close offices and people died in a bad storm, so the next time someone saw a snowflake everything was shut down. Prior to that they dithered until everyone was there and then sent them home once the day "counted" toward days served (some arcane state employment law I was told).

UCONN did close from the storm yesterday...surprise!
My school, ECSU, also closed which surprised me...but I got over it pretty fast and enjoyed my time off.
:-)
Nothing like the unexpected gift of a day off! Glad you got a chance to enjoy it.
