A Sucker for Writer Docos
I saw this one last summer: it's not available on DVD, but it is in pieces on YouTube. Fascinating clan, the Waughs. I'd hate to be a female in the family. I suppose neglect might be better than active hatred and scorn, but I'm not sure.
Must look for a doco on Charlotte Brontë. In the meantime, back to deadlines...
I find it sad to hear Alexander talk about how his father put an end to the "favourite child" tradition -- and then so clearly re-enact it with his own son, Bron. I want to believe it's a conceit of the filming (and the focus on fathers and sons) but I suspect it's not.

"Beware of seriousness. It is a form of stupidity. Fear boredom and never use the word "erzatz". Good luck: the road ahead is tough & tricky."
-- Alexander Waugh
Neglect slightly, slightly, better than hostility. Not a lot.
