Hauskaa Vappua!

In Finland they are swimming the harbor and throwing student caps. Here I am enjoying the last day of the semester and getting last minute things done before Kalamazoo.

I'm also practicing on my kantele because I will be playing with the medieval group Collegium Mysterium (directed by my friend and colleague Yvonne Kendall). Here's how Kipper helps me practice:

Say wha-?! Last day of the semester? I got one more week to work on one last paper while I am presenting at a conference back home in Wisconsin.

Geezz...We still have a week and a half of classes before final exams.

Joey has finals next week. He's driving me crazy!

Well, last day of teaching. We still have finals to go -- and they don't start until next week (well, mine don't). Of course in the meantime, I have a paper to give Thursday morning at Kalamazoo! And a panel Thursday night, but neither is too stressful; in fact, they look to be a lot of fun.

Oooh, we're smack-dab in the middle of finals....and it's not a pretty sight.

And, no, sunshines, I do not know where that 'book is with the painting/sculpture/mural I liked by that French/German/Dutch/modern guy....'

Yeesh! I think the only thing possibly worse than working in the library during finals must be working in the writing center. "But I'll get an F if I don't revise this by 2 o'clock!" I have a student in composition who has turned in the same plagiarized paper three times and still doesn't get it, but I do keep sending him to the writing center.
