Review: Let the Right One In and Watchmen

Hop on over to Up Against the Wall to see my reviews of these two films. Yes, it's a bit late, but it took a while to work up the energy to write anything about Watchmen.

Well, quite aside from the spirited discussion on the Horror list. (Or perhaps I just enjoyed it since I was able to score obvious jokes off the discussion, while making my points.)

Well, a long line of potshots at easy targets hardly counts as a review, does it? The jokey double entendres were worth it, though.

I dunno, I think the discussion was pretty informative, including your own outraged condemnation, and Jeff Segal and Pearce Duncan's mildly ambivalent appreciation.

Hey, tony genital jokes, my meat...um...

D'oh!

That's the good thing about the list: even in a off-the-cuff discussion a lot of good and often thoughtful commentary takes place. That's why I've been on it for -- eek! -- fifteen years.

Of course now I'm bound to it as secret co-owner. Mildred won't let me quit even though I seldom do anything. It's kind of like being Vice-President except for the lack of funerals (knock wood).

You know, not to be morbid, but that's a thing to consider. We've certainly had people share losses with us, but we've only had one list member die that I know of (raises a mug of hot chocolate to the sprightly spectre that hovers nearby whenever we think of him).

So far...

Re. Watchmen: That strange creaking sound I heard the other day was Alan Moore shrugging his shoulders.

We touched on it briefly during our conversation Tuesday and he really didn't see the point, and was unsurprised that it had not come out well.
